MATH JAM BOOTCAMP COURSES
BEFORE THE SEMESTER STARTS
WHY DO A MATH JAM?
Your last week of freedom before the semester starts is time well spent! You will get individualized, 15 hours of math support on what you need to know prior to your first day of school, getting you ready for the 1st day! During Math Jam you will review prerequisite material or get a head start on the materials covered in your math class, depending on your individual background and needs.
“I reviewed more in one week than I feel like I have in any other class…. I learned much more than I thought possible, and all in all, this was a great way to spend my time before the semester started.”
~ LPC student
What does the RESEARCH say?
- Concurrent Support WORKS. Statewide data shows that students are more likely to succeed with concurrent support.
- LPC Math Jam students have ~10% higher success rate in their next math course compared students who did not attend Math Jam!
CONCURRENT SUPPORT
DURING THE SEMESTER
WHY DO CONCURRENT SUPPORT?
You will get help from instructors and classmates on the most challenging parts of your math class, including homework problems and preparing for tests. You will also learn math concepts and strategies in a course designed to streamline and improve your performance in your current math course. There is no homework for this class. Based on Guided Self-Placement, some students may be required or recommended to enroll in a support course.
“I LOVE THIS CLASS!!! They answer all my questions when I have them. Each professor is so helpful and informative. They always give you the best advice on how to do the problems. And I’m getting a B in my class because of it! Which is the highest math grade I’ve ever received.”
~ LPC student
Did you miss the window to sign up for Concurrent support but need help?
We have a FREE Drop-In HyFlex Course that you can register for in ClassWeb called NMAT 202C. If it is past the Census Date, this class allows you to attend any concurrent support section and get drop-in help from the instructor(s) and embedded tutor(s).

Instructor Office Hours are "Student Support" Hours!
All full-time, and many part-time, instructors offer office hours. This is time the instructor has set aside to help students. Take advantage of this opportunity for one-on-one help from your instructor. Instructor office hours are published in the course syllabus and, for full-time instructors, on their office door.
Smartshops Series
You're invited to attend a series of workshops to give you information and strategies for career and transfer success! These workshops will be led by LPC counselors and faculty and will give you an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals. You can attend one or any number of workshops that interest you. As space is limited, registering for a workshop ahead of time is encouraged! https://laspositascollege.edu/smartshops
