Honors Community Service Requirement

Complete a total of 20 hours before the end of last Fall before transfer/certifications to qualify for Honors Scholar Certificate of Achievement/Graduation Medal/All Transfer Agreements.

  • If you don't intend to graduate as an Honors Scholar and are simply taking an Honors course or two, you are not required to complete any specific number of hours, but it is highly recommended participating in some, just to get to know the community and to diversify your experiences to prepare for transfer applications and transfer itself.
  • Out of the 20 you can substitute up to 5 hours with volunteering outside of LPC, but it is recommended to complete all 20 hours for LPC specific activities. You can complete all 20 hours ahead of time, but it is recommended to spread the hours between your semesters.

Submitting and Verifying Service Hours

AFTER the end of each semester you will be required to submit an End of Semester Program Check-In Form with all of your community hours for the whole semester at once. You will be asked to submit proves of community service, so please keep any documentation and photos from events. Also, make sure to sign in with the event organizers when "sign-in sheets" are available at the events you volunteer for. If there is no documentation available you will have to provide a contact who can verify your participation (an LPC instructor, a Program Coordinator, etc.)  All submissions will be verified based on information you provide.

The form will be only open AFTER the semester is over, on the last day of the semester. It is your responsibility to keep track of your hours throughout the semester and submit all of the hours for the whole semester at once in one submission. Multiple submissions for the same semester will not be accepted. The form is available for approved members on the LPC Honors Program Canvas.

You can volunteer for any LPC community events, such as Open House, Free Market, Resources fair, Cultural Events, Student Symposiums, or you can participate in peer-mentorship program (mentoring new students).

MAIN opportunities will be announced WEEKLY on LPC Honors Program Canvas, so if you are in the Program - PLEASE READ THE ANNOUNCEMENTS!
