ConnectUp
Program Summary
Connect Up (CUp) is a proactive, hands on support program with a focus on empowering our first year Black students and assisting them through their educational journey. The goal is to increase retention and success of first year students using a personal approach.
What You Will Receive
Students will be partnered with a coach who will welcome, encourage, and connect students to appropriate LPC student and academic support services. Coaches will help students navigate our college and the myriad of processes and procedures.
Who Can Be A Part Of This Community
The program's focus is on first year Black students who are not part of the Umoja program. The coaches are members of LPC's dedicated staff and professors.
Who Is Eligible
ConnectUp is available to students who are attending Las Positas College for the first time. In other words, if this is your first semester at Las Positas College, this program is for you.
Program Model
Students are invited to join the ConnectUp Canvas site where they will receive announcements on services, activities and events focused on African American/Black students, Black culture, and community. Students will be partnered with a ConnectUp Coach (CUp) until the end of the academic year (i.e. end of Spring).
