Cultural Community Center

Welcome to the vibrant and inclusive Cultural Community Center of Las Positas College, where we wholeheartedly embrace the importance of fostering a sense of belonging and meeting the diverse needs of our community of learners. Our primary mission is to create a welcoming and supportive space that caters to all students, regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances.

Stepping into our center, you will discover services and resources designed to empower and uplift you. Among these offerings, our Puente and Movement API learning community spaces stand out, providing cultural activities and fostering connections with like-minded individuals. We also provide a safe and inclusive environment for undocumented students, AB 540 students, DACA recipients, allies, and those from mixed-status families. At the Undocumented Student Support Center, we are equipped with the necessary resources and support to navigate any educational challenges they may face.

Moreover, our campus prayer room is a quiet, inclusive space open to all students, faculty, and staff for prayer, meditation, and reflection. Overseen in partnership with the Muslim Student Association (MSA), the room is maintained with care to support the spiritual needs of our diverse campus community. Located in the Cultural Community Center, it is available during regular center hours and reflects our shared commitment to inclusivity, respect, and student well-being. Whether you're observing daily prayers or simply seeking a peaceful moment, the prayer room is here for you. Our Pride Center is a joyful and affirming space for LGBTQ+ students to connect, celebrate, and thrive. With 20% of young people in Alameda County identifying as LGBTQ+, our queer community at Las Positas is vibrant and expansive. Our SAGA club hosts weekly meetings attended by 20–40 students, and our bustling Discord server brings together hundreds of members. The diversity within our community is our strength—there are countless ways to be queer, from different gender identities and sexual orientations to intersecting cultural, racial, and neurodivergent experiences. The Pride Center is here to uplift every voice and liven up the space with joy, inclusion, and pride.

Student Services departments, offices, and programs have been established to help students attain their educational goals and add value to the college experience. Each Student Services entity is designed to assist students in the decision-making process by helping them identify and clarify academic, career, and personal goals.
