Puente Project Course Sequence

The Puente Project is a two-semester (fall and spring) commitment connecting English, Math, and Psychology-Counseling courses to increase the number of educationally underserved students to: 

  • Transfer and enroll in four-year institutions.
  • Earn college degrees.
  • Return to the community to serve as leaders and mentors.

Fall Semester

English Component: 

  • ENG C1000 (ENGL L1): Academic Reading and Writing (3 units)
    • Transfer: Cal-GETC area 1A UC/CSU

Math Component:

  • STAT C1000: Introduction to Statistics and Probability (4 units)
    • Transfer: Cal-GETC area 2 UC/CSU

OR

  • MATH 21: Precalculus (4 units)
    • Transfer: Cal-GETC area 2 UC/CSU

Psychology Counseling Component:

  • PCN 20: Thriving in College (2 units)
    • Transfer: UC/CSU
    • Elective units

Spring Semester

English Component:

  • ENG 4: Critical Thinking and Writing about Literature (3 units)
    • Transfer: Cal-GETC area 1B UC/CSU

OR

  • ENG C1001 (ENGL L7): Critical Thinking and Writing (3 units)
    • Transfer: Cal-GETC area 1B UC/CSU

Math Component (Depends on Major):

  • MATH 1: Calculus I (5 units)
    • Transfer: Cal-GETC area 2 UC/CSU

Psychology Counseling Component:

  • PCN 18: University Transfer Planning (1 unit)
    • Transfer: UC/CSU
    • Elective unit
