Canvas for Faculty
Our Learning Management System, Canvas, is widely used by faculty to facilitate both on campus and online instruction. Explore the instructor resources below to learn how to effectively use Canvas and related tools for teaching.
Canvas Training
Instructors can get started with Canvas by completing two self-paced courses available on all employee Canvas Dashboards:
- Intro to Canvas-LPC: provides a foundation for faculty using Canvas to enhance their on-campus courses
- Web Accessibility Course: helps instructors ensure content on Canvas meets web accessibility standards
Instructors can further their learning through:
- Workshops (on campus and online workshops offered throughout the year)
- Canvas Instructor Guides (a complete guide to all-things Canvas)
- CVC@ONE courses and webinars (offered free-of-cost to all California Community College employees)
Canvas-integrated Tools
LPC provides instructors with a suite of Canvas-integrated tools that support teaching and learning. Learn about our most popular instructional technologies:

Canvas Guidance
Check your LPC email for timely Canvas and instructional technology tips, sent throughout the year from the TLC team and DE Committee. Commonly shared resources include:
- Beginning-of-Term Canvas Checklist
- regularly updated with tips for preparing Canvas shells ahead of each new term
- End-of-Term Canvas and Tech Checklist (new version coming in May 26)
- regularly updated with tips for wrapping up at the end of each term
- Merging Sections in Canvas
