Financial Aid
| December 24 - January 1, 2026 | Holiday - Winter Recess – No Instruction |
For financial aid purposes, Winter Intersession is considered part of the Spring term at Las Positas College.
What This Means
- You must be enrolled in Spring in order to receive financial aid for your completed Winter Intercession classes.
- Your completed Winter units will be added to your Spring units when we determine your enrollment level for Spring. This combined total is used to establish your Spring enrollment level and to check your eligibility for Spring financial aid.
- Winter and Spring units are combined when calculating your Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
- Adding, dropping, or withdrawing from Winter or Spring may change your Spring financial aid eligibility.
If you qualify for the CCPG, it automatically covers your Winter enrollment fees ($46 per unit).
Because Winter is treated as part of Spring:
- Federal and state aid is awarded during Spring only.
- Your combined Winter + registered Spring units determine your Spring enrollment level.
If you attend another college or university for Fall and Spring and are taking Winter classes at LPC:
What You May Receive from LPC:
- CCPG, if eligible, to cover your Winter enrollment fees.
What You Cannot receive from LPC:
- Pell Grant
- Cal Grant
- SSCG
- SEOG
- Federal Direct Loans
- Any other federal or state financial aid
These types of aid must remain at your home institution for the Spring term.
Important
- You cannot receive federal or state financial aid from two different colleges for the same term.
Winter units count toward the 12-unit Spring requirement for Promise eligibility.
If your combined Winter and registered Spring units total 12 or more, your Winter enrollment fees will be covered by the LPC Free Tuition Program when Spring aid disburses.
Federal Direct Loans are processed and disbursed during Spring only.
To qualify for a spring loan, you must maintain at least 6 units (half-time enrollment) through:
- Spring enrollment alone, or
- Combined Winter + Spring units
There are no Winter-only loan disbursements.

Maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is required for all students receiving federal, state aid.
To remain eligible for financial aid, students must:
- Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA
- Successfully complete 67% of attempted units
- Finish your program within the maximum 150% timeframe.
Why Winter Matters for SAP
- Winter is an accelerated four-week term with the same academic workload as a full semester.
- Dropping or failing a Winter course may impact your SAP standing.
- Winter grades are posted before Spring aid disburses, so poor performance may affect Spring aid.
