What We Can Support With
Basic Needs can support student parents with childcare, parenting needs, food, housing, financial wellness, family-related concerns, and other basic needs that may affect their stability, well-being, or ability to focus on school.
*You do not need to be in crisis to reach out. Resource Navigation is available to
support both short-term needs and long-term planning.

Student Parent Resources on campus are here to help you stay enrolled, reduce barriers, and move toward your educational and personal goals.
CalWORKs provides essential financial assistance and supportive services to eligible
California families, helping them meet their basic needs. Administered locally by
county welfare departments, this program offers crucial support to families across
all 58 counties in the state.
Eligibility
Low-income families with little cash on hand may qualify. A family's monthly cash aid amount is based on citizenship, age, and household income, among other factors. To explore more information, please visit the state CalWorks Program Details Page.

Location
EOPS supports student parents as they balance school, family, and life. Through personalized counseling, academic support, and access to helpful resources, we work to create a welcoming and supportive environment where student parents feel encouraged, understood, and empowered to succeed.
Eligibility
- Be a California resident.
- Be enrolled in at least half-time (6 units or more).
- Submit your FAFSA, CADAA, or Promise Grant information to Financial Aid.
- Demonstrate financial need through the California Promise Grant (CCPG), FAFSA, or CADAA.
- Have not completed more than 50 degree-applicable units.
- Complete the Las Positas College online orientation.
- Submit transcripts from all colleges attended.
- Maintain a valid email account for EOPS communication.

4Cs of Alameda County
The 4Cs empowers parents by providing the information and resources they need to choose
the right child care for their family. They offer a comprehensive directory of local
child care services and guidance on financial assistance options in Oakland and Southern
Alameda County.

Hively
Hively strengthens families and promotes child well-being by expanding access to essential early childhood resources, high-quality childcare referrals, and affordable mental health support.
Hively also operates Family Resource Centers across our county, including here in the Tri-Valley! At the Family Resource Centers, Hively helps families access essential items like children’s clothing, books, and toys, as well as connect with valuable community resources, workshops, and events designed to support child development and family well-being.

Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Program
WIC provides personalized nutrition guidance, breastfeeding support, and financial benefits for buying healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. The program also offers referrals to connect you and your family with healthcare and other essential community services.
You may qualify for the WIC program if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, chestfeeding, or have an infant or child under 5 years old.
Eligibility is also based on:
- Meeting income guidelines OR receive Medi-Cal, CalWORKs, or CalFresh.
- Residence in California.

Resource Navigation is meant to be supportive, private, and student-centered. We will not share your information without your consent, except in situations involving immediate safety concerns.
Know Your Rights
- Asking for help will not impact your enrollment or academic standing.
- Services are confidential.
- Undocumented students can still access housing navigation and campus support.
- You can ask questions without committing to any program.
If You Need Immediate Help
If you are in immediate danger or fleeing violence, please prioritize your safety first. If you are experiencing an urgent housing or safety crisis, the emergency resources below may be able to provide immediate support.
- Emergency Services: Call 911 for immediate help in situations involving danger, violence, a medical emergency, or any urgent safety concern.
- 211 Alameda County: Call or text 211 to connect you with local support, including housing assistance, emergency shelters, food resources, healthcare services, and other community programs.
- Bay Area Community Services (BACS): Call 510-613-0330 for crisis response, mental health support, and help connecting to emergency shelter and housing resources in Alameda County.
- National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 for 24/7 confidential support during emotional distress, a mental health crisis, or thoughts of suicide.
- National Domestic Violence Hotline: Call 1-800-799-7233 or text START to 88788 for confidential support, safety planning, and resources related to domestic or relationship violence.
- Las Positas College Campus Safety & Security: Call 925-424-1699 for immediate support with safety concerns on campus and help coordinating with emergency services when needed.
- Las Positas College Student Health & Counseling Services: Call 925-424-1830 for basic health care, counseling services, wellness education, and referrals to additional community resources.
