ESL Assessment

Students planning to enroll in ESL courses are recommended to complete an in-person assessment at the Assessment Center. The assessment evaluates your reading and language use skills and helps provide a placement recommendation to ensure you start at the level that best matches your current abilities. There is no time limit, so please allow ample time to finish.

Instructions for Taking Your ESL Assessment:

ESL assessments are offered every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 10:00 a.m. While appointments are not required, we recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early to ensure a smooth check-in. Please note that students arriving 15 minutes late or later will not be allowed to take the assessment. The Assessment Center is located in Building 1600, Room 1642. Be sure to check the center’s hours the night before and the morning of your visit.

Please note:
For the Summer Semester (June 2 – July 31, 2025), the Assessment Center is closed on Fridays.

What to Bring:

  • Valid Photo ID: Must be a physical copy; digital copies will not be accepted.

  • Student ID (W#): If you haven’t received your W# via email, visit the Admissions & Records Office to obtain it or check your application status.
