Comprehensive List of Campus Family Resources

CalWORKs

CalWORKs provides essential financial assistance and supportive services to eligible California families, helping them meet their basic needs. Administered locally by county welfare departments, this program offers crucial support to families across all 58 counties in the state.

Eligibility

Low-income families with little cash on hand may qualify. A family's monthly cash aid amount is based on citizenship, age, and household income, among other factors. To explore more information, please visit the state CalWorks Program Details Page.

After determining eligibility, complete an online CalWorks application.

4Cs of Alameda County

The 4Cs empowers parents by providing the information and resources they need to choose the right child care for their family. They offer a comprehensive directory of local child care services and guidance on financial assistance options in Oakland and Southern Alameda County.

Hively

Hively strengthens families and promotes child well-being by expanding access to essential early childhood resources, high-quality childcare referrals, and affordable mental health support.

Hively also operates Family Resource Centers across our county, including here in the Tri-Valley! At the Family Resource Centers, Hively helps families access essential items like children’s clothing, books, and toys, as well as connect with valuable community resources, workshops, and events designed to support child development and family well-being.

Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Program

WIC provides personalized nutrition guidance, breastfeeding support, and financial benefits for buying healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. The program also offers referrals to connect you and your family with healthcare and other essential community services.

You may qualify for the WIC program if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, chestfeeding, or have an infant or child under 5 years old.

Eligibility is also based on:

  • Meeting income guidelines OR receive Medi-Cal, CalWORKs, or CalFresh.
  • Live in California.

Housing Resources

This guide was developed by the Las Positas College CalWORKs Program in response to the growing number of students experiencing homelessness or facing housing insecurity. Its purpose is to provide a centralized resource where students can explore housing options and reduce barriers when navigating housing instability.

Please note that eligibility requirements vary by program and organization. We encourage you to contact each provider directly to confirm whether you qualify for their services.
