Las Positas College is an inclusive, learning-centered, equity-focused environment that offers educational opportunities and support for completion of students' transfer, degree, and career-technical goals while promoting lifelong learning.

Astronomy

Astronomy is the scientific study of celestial phenomena, including the solar system, stars, extra-solar planets, galaxies, and the evolution of the Universe. The Las Positas College astronomy program includes general education lecture and lab courses aimed at non-science majors. Students wishing to pursue a bachelor’s degree in astronomy or astrophysics should complete an AS in Physics, and begin their coursework in astronomy or astrophysics after transferring to a four-year institution.
