5. Interpretation of data on submitted request forms training by Rajinder Samra

  • Rajinder walked through how data populates the faculty hire prioritization request forms
  • Key data fields covered:
    • Projected FTF load: assumes successful hire, uses prior academic year FTES as denominator
    • Shifting toward FTES per FTEF (full-time equivalent students) as the primary productivity measure
  • Projection methodology for 2027-28 cycle
    • Uses Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 as denominator semesters
    • Credit and non-credit sections combined in WSCH and headcount data
  • Guiding metric is the FON (Full-Time Faculty Obligation)
  • Projections for additional hires: handled case by case; faculty requesting these should include narrative justification
  • Primary sections by discipline: Math is the highest
    • Springs consistently lower due to fewer new/transfer students; retention drives spring numbers
    • Projected to approach ~9,500 within the next year

6. Review of the Charge & Process

  • Charge and process reviewed by committee; weighted criteria process confirmed as sound
  • Key language highlighted: FHPC decides by consensus whether to recommend immediate placement or rank the position within existing priorities
    • Emergency replacements no longer automatically supersede all other positions
    • Committee evaluates urgency relative to the full ranked list
  • Reminder: FHPC recommendations go to district leadership, not a final decision-making body

7. Discussion

  • Chair Election
    • Heike’s two-year term as chair expired; new chair needed
