7. Discussion Items (see attachments)
- 7.1 Credit for Prior Learning
-
Clarification that CPL – Credit-by-Exam is different from Assessment. Additionally, the exam for Credit-by-Exam is not approved directly by the Curriculum Committee, it is determined by the discipline faculty teaching the course
-
Updating Curriculum Committee Policy - CPL:
-
Credit-by-Portfolio > Credit-by-Authenticated Competencies; this expands the types of prior learning that can be considered through this method
-
Credit-by-Industry will also include Recognized Certifications and Documented Training, allowing certifications/training to be considered as part of CPL
-
Credit-for-Military Service/Training will extend beyond the Joint Services Transcript (JST)
-
Adding additional accepted grading options
-
CS: how will the additional grading options affect students, since some transfer courses do not count towards a transfer major as a Pass/No Pass (P/NP) grade.
-
CK: UCs have limitations on the type and amount of CPL that is accepted; noted CPL is being awarded for courses within student majors, keeping in mind of impact to financial aid and other student needs
-
-
Introducing Curriculum Committee Administrative Procedure (CCAP)
-
Mirrors the number for CCP
-
Outlines the CPL credit approval process
-
-
Revision of CPL Administrative Procedure, reflects changes within LPC’s CCP/CCAP
-
CCP/CCAP – CPL will return to Curriculum Committee’s next First Reading
-
8. Reports
- 8.1. Vice President's Report; absent
- 8.2. Chair's Report - no report
- 8.3. Articulation Officer's Report
-
Vice Chancellor of Education proposed partial certification, particularly for Ethnic Studies; expect additional pushback from the CSU systems
-
Policy has been accepted requiring math departments to complete assessments in-person
-
CSU and UC have the ability to reject any course-to-course articulation for any/various reasons
-
Gender Studies ADT meeting has been postponed
-
Upcoming meeting/updates for Electrical Engineering and Nutrition/Dietetics ADTs
-
C-ID Chair is delaying Physics review; since curriculum varies between institutions, making CCN changes to align could/would affect a lot of current articulation agreements
-
